Millennium India Education Foundation, with the support of NCSTC division of Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, organized a school awareness program on prevention of zoonotic diseases. Zoonotic diseases are those which are communicable from animals to humans. A Sutradhar puppet show was used for the purpose in which script used by puppeteers contains 70% entertainment and 30% information on the diseases that are transmissible from different species of animals like dogs, cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, birds etc. and how to prevent them. This made learning easy and entertaining for the school children.
So far 20 MCD schools, consisting of over 6179 children, have been covered in as many shows. More than 60 schools will be covered under this project over the coming months.
