“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” – John Quincy Adams.
Becoming a leader doesn’t mean you have to be an elected official or a CEO. A leader is someone who others consistently follow and want to follow for new trends and ideas. A fancy title can make that happen temporarily, but a true leader inspires steadfast loyalty and respect. A true leader must be a good role model, knowledgeable in his field, and worthy of respect. Here are some tips that can help you excel as a leader.
1. One of the most important qualities of a leader is confidence. This gains you trust, responsibility and respect.
2. Be firm but not dictatorial. You should also be kind and understanding.
3. Be decisive. However, there may be situation where the decision needs to be made after reaching a consensus. Respect the opinions of your followers in that case.
4. Keep your promises. We all know how we hate politicians because they are promise-breakers. Break your promises and you lose all your respect.
5. Dress to influence, not just to impress. Be clear in your mind what image you want to give off.
6. Make decisions and take responsibility for the consequences.
Leaders are made, not born. Inculcate these qualities and you can be a better leader too. Have a great inspired week ahead!
