Millennium India Education Foundation, in association with Sahakar Bharati and Delhi Public School, Ranipur, Haridwar, celebrated the World Earth Day 2023 at Haridwar, Uttrakhand. The activities were supported by Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India.
More than 20 schools from Haridwar district took part in the inter-school activities that were held on the theme “Invest in your planet.” The activities included painting completions for middle and senior groups, and planting trees. Around 150 students and teachers participated in the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Uday Kakroo, Director, MIEF spoke about how everyone can help protect and restore the biodiversity in and around us to keep our planet green. Amarnath Tiwari, Prabhari Uttrakhand, Sahakar Bharati, while addressing the students, spoke about the advantages of cooperative systems that will help save the planet. Dr. Anupam Jagga, Principal D.P.S. thanked the organisers and Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India for partnering with their school to celebrate Earth Day. She showed her commitment to future such sensitization activities for students and staff especially on environment and climate change related issues in Haridwar.
Winning students received cash prizes, books, and certificates of participation. Plants were sown in the schools premises as a gift to the environment.
