Who we are:

Millennium India Education Foundation (MIEF) is a national award-winning non-profit organization headquartered in Delhi, India. Since its establishment in 2003, the organization has worked on community development through the promotion of science, art, culture, and language, especially for marginalized communities.

What we do:

We build platforms and content that makes information accessible to children, schools and learners across all ages and intersections.

Some of our programming has included:

  • Capacity-building and skill-development workshops for building scientific awareness e.g. prevention of Zoonotic diseases and Sharada script revival
  • Innovative delivery for knowledge-sharing: Puppet shows and mobile planetariums as tools to build scientific curiosity in school children
  • Art shows, online workshops, and exhibitions for artists from minority communities
  • Content creation and publishing: Illustrated children’s book on COVID prevention, and a global partnership with Peerbagh to publish children’s books and promote South Asian culture through workshops for teachers and students.

Key Projects

Sharada Script Revival

We’re the first organization in the world to take up Sharada Script Revival programs in India since 2013 in association with renowned central and state universities across India. Capacity and skill-building workshops have been held in-person and online, and over 500 scholars have been trained on the script.

Prevention of Diseases

MIEF has been following One health approach since 2010. 17 in-person and digital conferences in Delhi/Mumbai were organized between 2018-2022. Over 10,000 people including medical professionals have benefited from this programming. ~30,000 students and 1600 teachers from 240 schools were a part of the stay safe from COVID campaign.

Science Popularization

MIEF has been working with school students since 2003 with innovative projects like the Taramandal- mobile planetarium, school quizzes, puppet shows with themes around environmental science & climate change. Over 3000 schools, and 142,000+ students were a part of the awareness programs.

Improved teaching aids

MIEF has organized virtual teach-outs for capacity building on Vedic Math, Origami, and Life Sciences in 2022. Over 1200 schools, and 2200+ teachers have been trained in 36+ workshops held in 2022.

Varta: a cultural festival of diversity and expression in the Himalayas

From August 18-20th, 2023, we are excited to bring you on a journey to revive and promote the vibrant culture and diverse stories of the Himalayan belt  including Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, with a special emphasis on the State of Uttarakhand.

Organizing teams include MIEF, Dehradun-based nonprofit, Sahakar Bharati, and Peerbagh. The event is being produced in association with the Government of Uttarakhand, India and Bhairosur Kisan Producer Company Limited. The event is free to attend, please RSVP here.

Peerbagh: Storytelling for Children

The Everything Times – a global children’s magazine ran between in June 2021- Jan 2022 showcasing children’s creativity. 

MIEF has now partnered with Peerbagh to help host storytelling for children, teachers, and parents globally. The emphasis of these programs is to promote South Asian storytelling frameworks, and enable skill building including creative writing and thinking. This includes a weekly newsletter with latest information which is available for free sign up here. The Instagram handle has regular information on this initiative. 

The book Shaliya discovers Coronavirus Frumpfchi discusses how one can stay safe from the Coronavirus and has been narrated through illustrations.

The book has been translated in 16 Indian languages including Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Gujarati, Bodo, Rajasthani, Marathi, Kannad, Malyalam, Tamil, Oriya, Bengali, Nepali, Asamese, and Manipuri.


12000 students received English and Hindi print copies of the book. The PDF copies of all translations were sent out to 640+ schools in Delhi-NCR and Mumbai regions for distribution to further the awareness of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a part of the awareness campaign including the book distribution, 100 online lectures were held covering over 300 schools benefitting 60,000 students, teachers, and parents.
