There is a reason why nature is personified as “mother nature”. It is because of the life-giving and nurturing aspects of nature, similar to a mother.

So it is equally important to preserve and maintain our mother nature. Better yet, it is our responsibility. There are many days associated with environment. They have some historical importance related to the dates they’re celebrated on. Besides that, they are also a reminder of the need for preservation and conservation. Celebrating a particular day involves people making some efforts at individual and organizational levels which is very important and helpful as well.

It also helps in raising awareness among children about the need for preserving our nature and environment. Kids learn a lot through the celebrations of such days at their schools. Educators organize competitions and other events to get children involved. This makes them more responsible and sensible towards nature.

The need is to reach the people of the weaker sections of society and raise awareness about the same. It takes a collective effort of the entire society to make the world a better place to live in!

We often face cynics saying how single days  like the Ozone day or efforts like the Earth Hour are gimmicks, but it is also important to note that they go a long way in reinforcing an idea and raising recall and awareness. This is the MIEF reason for supporting Ozone day, the Earth day and other such events as an organization. Everyone needs to start somewhere, no?
